Learning to Live in the Grey

Hi guppies,

Today’s blog post is going to be a little different. Think of it more like a diary entry than anything else.

Lately I’ve been asking myself, How is it even possible to keep a positive mindset when everything around you feels… unstable?

I’m not exactly sure how to explain it, but life has been feeling very… grey. Not in a sad or hopeless way, but almost transitional. I don’t feel like something bad is coming, but I also don’t feel overly excited for what’s ahead. It feels like floating in the middle of the ocean, unsure if you’re drifting toward nearby land or if you’ll simply keep floating for what feels like forever.Maybe part of it is because I’ve started a little experiment…

I’ve been avoiding tarot readings…

To fill you in a bit more, I wanted to see if stepping away from readings would help me feel more grounded and at peace. Sometimes, knowing what might happen ends up being more stressful than simply living through it. More often than not, I’d spend so much energy trying to avoid inevitable Tower moments or situations I wasn’t particularly fond of, only to arrive at the very same place anyway. So I thought, Why not try navigating life using only my intuition?

Now I find myself wandering through this grey fog. I don’t know what’s coming next. I know I’m following my intuition, and I know something is shifting beneath the surface I just can’t see it yet. Oddly enough, this uncertainty has done something unexpected.

It’s forced me to focus on now instead of constantly looking ahead.

But that brought up another question, How do we stay positive when we don’t have a specific goal, milestone, or destination to look forward to? For me, the answer has been gratitude.

When you begin living in the present instead of constantly reaching for the future, you experience life differently. You start appreciating what already exists instead of chasing what hasn’t arrived yet. And honestly, it’s usually the quiet, ordinary moments that stay with us the longest. I’ve found a strange kind of peace in not worrying so much about tomorrow. Because the truth is, tomorrow isn’t promised. All we truly have is this moment. Even my spellwork has begun to feel different.

It feels less like something I do and more like an extension of who I am. My energy feels intertwined with the world around me. I notice it in the breeze while I’m outside, in the hummingbird that visits the bird bath in my garden, in the music playing through my speakers while I work, and in the simple rhythm of my everyday life. Living in the present has become its own form of grounding. Its own form of magic.

You begin moving with your environment instead of against it. You don’t always need a perfectly mapped out future or a crystal clear vision of where you’re headed. Sometimes it’s enough to simply exist where you are and trust that you’re already moving in the right direction. So if you’re currently in a season of transition, or if life feels uncertain, unclear, or like you’re standing in the middle of your own grey fog. Try to stop searching so hard for what’s next. Instead, look around. Notice what’s already here.

Connect with the people around you. Spend time in places that make you feel safe, seen, and valued. Listen to the sounds outside your window. Feel the energy that’s already flowing through your life instead of chasing energy that hasn’t arrived yet. Appreciate the now. Let the present guide you. Flow with it.

As for me, this is where I currently find myself, reporting to you straight from the deep emotional waters of reflection.

Until next time,

-Dorian
